Conchita de las Alas who was widowed at the age of 39 led exemplary life of service and devotion to her children and fellowmen, her graduating as valedictorian from the Taal Elementary School, as well as her high school and university training at the University of the Philippines and the Centro Escolar University, had been indirectly responsible for her particular interest in education pursuits which manifested itself in the setting up of schools in three towns of Batangas. She founded the Calaca Academy, the Mabini Junior College and the Nasugbo Institute.
Mrs. Lualhati is presently manager and director of the Rural Bank of Lemery and concurrently secretary of the Federation of Batangas Rural Bankers. Her children by her husband, Jose Lualhati, are the pride of her life; Herminia is a talented teacher in a Manila university, Ligaya is President of the Mabini Rural Bank, and Antonia is manager of the Rizal Banking Corporation, Cubao Branch.
