Ramon Diokno

Prominent lawyer, politician, justice and champion of laborers. He was born on March 28, 1886, to the equally famous general Ananias Diokno and Paulina Marasigan. Ramon Diokno was a man of many interests. An educator at heart, he founded the Colegio de Ilustracion.

He began his political career at the age of 22. He was also elected representative of the first district of Batangas in 1918 and in 1933. As assembly man, he was responsible for the opening of the road of Tagaytay from Lemery, which road is now known as Ramon Diokno Highway. On January 1, 1954, he was appointed Justice of the Supreme Court by President Ramon Magsaysay, a post he served until his death on April 21, 1954.

He married the former Leonor Wright of Pandacan, Manila, on August 26, 1911. Their union was blessed with ten children: Paulina, Ramon, Luz, Rosario, Nora, Antonio, Mercedes, Jose, Angela and Irene.
